Book plug I found it hiding in the history section.. along with a pocket constitution... hidden away between to books about war.

The reason I bring this up is the 27 amendment:No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.

This is a well hidden amendment because it is not noteworthy, but it is just as important as the others.

"The 27th amendment was proposed by the first congress in 1789, together with the first ten amendments. But unlike the first 10 amendments, all of which were ratified in 1791 what ended up as the twenty seventh amendment was less than an overnight sensation: it wasn't ratified by the requisite number of state legislatures until Michigan finally voted to ratify it more than two centuries later." - The Invisible Constitution: Laurence H Tribe page 3 chapter 1.

Because the United States kept growing, the bill could not be passed until three fourths of the states agreed to it.

Happy reading.
